“Why do you need to wait until you are 70 to worry about your legacy? Why aren’t you worrying about it when you are 21?”
Simon Sinek
The 10 Fold Pathway
If you were to start investing in a young person’s life so that they grew up to become an elder in their lifetime - someone who leads, loves and leaves a legacy - what would the life-curriculum be?
The 10-Fold Pathway maps out such a curriculum.
Each pathway is called a pathway because it is something we need to keep on walking across the whole of our life span.
With each pathway, when we learn it for ourselves we are equipped to invest in others. For example, when we learn to see ourselves we learn how to see others (Being Seen); when we invest in developing our heart and character, we can help others to invest in their heart and character (Becoming You)
Becoming an elder is the very route to investing in the next generation of elders.
The 10 Pathways in summary are:
Being Seen
When we are truly seen by someone for who we are it is transformative
Having A Map Of Life
Our current life-map of Educate-Success/Accumulate-Retire (Die) doesn’t create elders
Becoming You
We are all becoming someone. Intentionally building the heart and character of an elder from youth onwards
Crossing Life’s Thresholds
Life is full of thresholds who role, if used well, is to liberate more and more of our potential for the benefit of the world
Aspiring To Eldership
Setting a compass to live a purposeful life by getting beyond our own ego is key
Diving For The Pearl & The Wound
We all have great and unique talents (the pearl) but they reside inseparably alongside our wounds. The gift is in owning both.
Navigating The Midlife Threshold
The mid-life threshold is the time of deep challenge and reward in becoming an elder
Embedding Mentoring
What comes to us as a seed we plant into others to blossom and fruit through the life-long process of mentoring.
Becoming An Elder
Owning the elder-phase of life we are now in and seeking ways to ‘plant a walnut tree’
Investing In A Meaningful Purpose
Having a meaningful purpose puts a focus, a momentum and a shape to every life experience that we have
